You'll want springs that provide about 125 to 135lbs at installed height and no more than about 270 at the nose if your lifters are stock as well. I just feed a length of rope in the spark plug hole and turn the engine over by hand just enough to lightly compress the rope against the head. I never have luck with the air pressure adapter. 100 a good target, but the exhaust can be a little tighter. You'll be doing springs anyway, so while the springs are off one cylinder and all the push rods are out of the engine, replace one cylinder worth of springs with some lighter 'check springs' and with the push rods/rockers in that hole only, rotate the engine around slowly and push down on the rocker at several different points to 'feel' for piston/valve contact. Piston/valve clearance shouldn't be an issue with the 1.7 rocker, but you should always check. lift doesn't do you any good cuz the heads won't be able to take advantage of the lift anyway.
